Purdy Spit Radio is owned and operated by Friends of KGHP and used by the community of the Gig Harbor/Key Peninsula area.

Friends of KGHP is a 501 c(3) nonprofit organization that was from the response of the Peninsula School District #401 meeting on November 7, 2023 announced that they would like to offload KGHP-FM serving the Gig Harbor/Key Peninsula area due to budgetary reasons. They did not want the community/high school radio station to go off the air and wanted it to go through a license transfer. 

This is where Friends of KGHP comes in. We see the value of KGHP-FM is to our community, education, and emergency services. We were formed on November 15, 2023 and established officially as a nonprofit through the State of Washington on December 15, 2023.  

Our mission is to have KGHP transferred to our nonprofit group so we can keep the radio station on the air while maintaining partnerships with the community of Gig Harbor/Key Peninsula area as well as with the school district, emergency services, and other community partners that are helping to keep the station alive.
